OUR COTTON.

Cotton is the natural fiber that covers the seed of the cotton plant once the flower has dried.

Our cotton is grown in the foot hills of the Andes in Peru.
The Andes run the entire length of South America, from the humid tropics of the Caribbean to the ice fields of Patagonia. The longest north-south mountain range in the world, the Andes encompass a tremendous range of ecosystems and are home to a rich variety of plant and animal species and human communities.

Ecological Cotton is as nature intended it to be.  Seeds are obtained by self-reproduction, preserving continuity of the indigenous species.  It is cultivated naturally and harmoniously, rotating crops to prevent soil imbalances.  Pests are controlled biologically with natural predators and natural compounds.  Organic compost is used as fertilizer and to maintain soil moisture.  Areas with naturally sufficient rainfall are chosen for production.
No transgenic products or chemical fertilizers are used!

Ecological Cotton can be grown in different colors so as to reduce the need for bleaches and dyes in the manufacturing process.

Brown Cotton.

Brown-white Cotton.

White Cotton.

Once the cotton is fully grown it is picked by hand which ensures that all the fibers are collected and none are left on the plants to go to waste. Hand picking also is more gentle on the fibers which  reduces the amount of processing that needs to be done to ensure soft and strong yarn.

When the cotton has been picked and packaged it is shipped to a small town in Spain called Centelles which is in the mountains just north of Barcelona.  The cotton is then woven into Twill & Terry fabric which can be used to produce many different products, many of which are available on our site. The company which weaves the cotton is a small family owned company that has been in business since 1941 and they pride themselves in producing products of only the highest quality and that have the least impact on our enviroment.

QUALITY CERTIFICATION.

All of our ecological organic cotton products are made to comply with several very stringent international quality standards and the certificates below are confirmation that the products are fully compliant with these standards.
